Sacred Heart Catholic Academy will host its annual schoolwide Walk-a-Thon on October 17th.

The Walk-a-Thon is a longstanding tradition at Sacred Heart and while this year is a bit different than prior years, it is still a great way to get the kids outside and raise money for the school in a fun and healthy way. We hope each student's family will help the students meet their step goals.

Due to circumstances relating to the pandemic, we will not be able to hold the Walk-a-Thon in the usual manner. Instead, we will be sending all the students home with a pedometer to count their steps and try to meet the challenge!

During the event, every student will attempt an age appropriate number of steps as follows:

Nursery, Pre-K, and K: 4,000 steps

Grades 1, 2, and 3: 6,000 steps

Grades 4, 5, and 6: 8,000 steps

Grades 7 and 8: 10,000 steps

We encourage parents to join our students in getting their steps in and hope you will take pictures and videos of your children getting in on the action. Please send photos and videos to development@sacredheartbayside.org so that we can put together a montage for all to enjoy after the event!

There is no fundraising minimum to participate in this year's Walk-a-Thon and we know times are tough for many of our families. The pandemic has also increased costs for our school and our boiler is in need of repair in advance of the winter months. Thus, we hope each family will choose to participate and gain sponsors for each student's participation in the challenge. We are looking for one-time donations in support of each student.
